There is a three-month waiting period for your provincial health coverage for new immigrant (new Canadians) or visiting former (returning) Canadian residents. Health care costs in Canada are very expensive. Hospitals can charge thousands of dollars per day, for example intensive care room alone may cost (not including doctor, diagnostic & other fee) anywhere from $3500 -$4500+ a day. The Citizenship and Immigration Canada website says "Canada does not pay for hospital or medical services for new immigrants for first three months. Make sure you have health insurance to pay your medical costs before you leave for Canada." Go to www.cic.gc.ca for more advice for visitors. Features and benefits
